In 1831, the wealthy nobility of Trapani constructed a small olive press and mill to produce olive oil, initiating a tradition that has endured through generations. Carefully picked from the lush Sicilian landscape, the olives were gently fed into a granite wheel pulled by a mule. With slow and forceful turns the olives were crushed into a fine and precious paste that was carefully spread onto intricately woven hemp disks that were then pressed in order to extract the precious liquid composed of oil and water. With patience and skill, the oil was given time to separate and meticulously collected.

Over a century later Sir Pietro Gabriele, once a member of the nobility, successfully introduced the first continuous hot cycle process to that mill during his era of management before the mill was sold. This improvement allowed olives to enter the mill at one end and come out as oil in the other, speeding up production, and improving olive oil yield.

Pietro, with his unwavering vision and exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, embarked on the journey to revive the mill in 1974, thus heralding a fresh chapter for the company and the entire community. With remarkable courage and relentless determination, he embraced the opportunity to begin a family legacy. Over countless years of perseverance and commitment, he successfully elevated the modest mill to a cornerstone of the community, offering not only premium-quality products but also a sense of pride and belonging. His profound dedication continues to serve as a guiding light for future generations, leaving an enduring imprint on the hearts of all privileged enough to have met him.

In 1977, Pietro’s son, Alberto, joined the family business and worked alongside his father gaining experience and insight, mastering the time honored tradition of oil production.

After the passing of Pietro in 2002, Alberto and his beautiful wife Iolanda continued his legacy by introducing a continuous cycle process of oil production that utilized strictly cold extraction marking the turning point in the company and testifying to their commitment to the excellence and purity of the oil produced.

As a young entrepreneur, Iolanda worked to integrate the commercial sector with the introduction of the 0.2 brand, creating expansive opportunities both locally and internationally.

As third generation legacies, Pietro and his sister Laura proudly continue the tradition that they’ve inherited. In addition to working alongside his father to manage business and monitor production, Pietro is dedicated to the careful selection of olive cultivars to create blends that characterize the 0.2 product lines.

Laura has used expertise gained from her studies in Rome and Paris to further expand the company’s presence locally and internationally. Through innovative ideas and with her enthusiastic presence, Laura has created engaging opportunities through which she carries on the legacy of her Grandfather sharing her passion for olive oil with an altruistic heart for her community.
